Frequently Asked Questions:
If one person has asked something I often assume there's more that are wondering the same thing! We hope you can find the answer to your inquiry but if not please send us an email!
-
What age do you harvest the animals?
- The best quality meat comes from animals UTM (under thirty months). UTM animals are the ones we harvest for our prime cuts like steak, roasts, stew, etc. When we happen to have an OTM (Over thirty month) animal this animal will only get used for trim products, like jerky, ground bison, sausage, etc and is mixed with UTM trim at a minimum 50/50 ratio.
-
Are your products organic?
- Our meat products are not certified organic but we do raise them organically. This means our farming practices are as natural as possible, we do not use herbicides or pesticides in our pastures and our winter feed is sourced from a certified organic farmer.
-
Do you add beef or pork into your bison products?
- Absolutely not. Our bison products are 100% bison only. From our ground bison to our sausages, jerky, etc. it is all 100% bison.
- Absolutely not. Our bison products are 100% bison only. From our ground bison to our sausages, jerky, etc. it is all 100% bison.
-
Are your products gluten free?
- Yes! Raw, unprocessed meat, by nature, is gluten free. The proteins from a glutenous diet are broken down in the animal's digestion and cannot transfer to the muscle. Additionally, our bison do not graze glutenous forage and any grain supplements, like oats, are also gluten free. Our bison sausages and bison burger patties are made with gluten free spice mixes.
- Our pork sausages are made with gluten spice mixes and are not recommended for those with gluten sensitivity.
-
Can you deliver outside of Saskatchewan?
- Unfortunately, not. Due to legislations between provinces are not able to ship meat products outside of Saskatchewan. We have provincial certification to do what we do and to ship outside of the province we have to be federally certified which comes with other barriers and expenses.
